The Columbus Symphony is undeniably one of the finest musical ensembles in the United States. They have been bringing the best of everything musical to audiences as a professional orchestra since the late 1970s, featuring as many as 90 of the world’s best musicians. Music director and conductor Rossen Milanov is very highly regarded as a conductor and has a significant national and international presence.

Everybody loves them some Mozart.

And that is exactly what the Columbus Symphony has up their sleeve with ‘All Mozart’ – not only a little bit, but an evening filled with some of the composer’s most beloved mature works.

The exciting program is set to kick off with the delightful overture to Mozart’s 1789 opera buffa in two acts, ‘Così Fan Tutte’. The opera, with libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, was first performed in 1790 at the Burgtheater in Vienna. The opera hasn’t been performed as much as it should have until the early 1900s, but thankfully was restored to its rightful place among standard operatic repertoire after World War II. The musically superb and lively overture traces the themes of the opera – most prominently, the “Così fan tutte le belle” theme that occurs later in the opera.

The award-winning American pianist and first-rate ‘Mozartean’, Orli Shaham, is set to take the stage with the Columbus Symphony for the performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. The work premiered in 1785 at the Mehlgrube Casino in Vienna with the composer himself as soloist – without having rehearsed the work in its totality! The concerto is greatly admired by music lovers and professionals, including composers such as Beethoven and Brahms.

Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 in D major is the epitome of the sophisticated, complex, and major advances in symphony composing, as Mozart has shown in his later symphonies. The symphony features the lavish use of wind instruments and a patchwork of ideas coming together beautifully.

The charming Ohio Theatre in Columbus has a rich legacy of bringing only the best to its stage. The venue can host up to 2,791 music lovers, with seating spread across four levels: the orchestra floor, loge, mezzanine, and balcony. The venue boasts superb acoustics and sightlines, meaning that every patron is guaranteed the best experience, regardless of where they choose to be seated.
